Op here. This is something new. I had one with same practice 3 years ago but a different doctor and those instructions did not have Gas-X the morning of procedure.

One thing I noticed was immediately after the procedure, I was in pain without the gas-x, but after a few hours I was fine.

But with gas-x I was fine immediately after the procedure but then the pain did not go away until the next night and I had to take Tylenol.

NP. Gas-x was part of the instructions at my old practice as well. I took 4 total, I think, in between SuTab doses. It helped and was way better than previous preps. New doc here in DC — close to retirement age — doesn’t have a modern mindset and had an incredibly outdated-seeming prep guide. I used the prep guide from previous practice and all was fine.

Op. Even within the same practice they have different instructions.

I've had with Golightly before, now Suprep.

The split dose is so much easier to drink

I never heard of it either.

Oh trust me that was how I felt after 3 days of low residue diet and after all that prep.

My instructions asked me to take gas-x the morning of, after the Suprep but before the 3 hour mark. I did and it was the wrong color.

But you all can learn from my mistake and if your instructions say to take the gas-x, buy the ones with yellow dye, not red or blue. Check the inactive ingredients.

On a separate note - I have had colonoscopy before which did not require Gas-X. This is something new. But it did help - last time I was hurting more because of all the gas they put inside to inflate.

Also for anyone wanting to know - packaged Coconut water (original, clear) is also fine to drink on the clear liquids day. The diet instructions are outdated and don't mention that. We are supposed to refrain from coconut, not the coconut water.

You aren't supposed to take *anything* within 3 hours. I bet it gets cancelled.

I couldn't drink anything 3 hours prior. My pill was taken 3 hours 15 min prior to the procedure.
