I feel like they have always had a weird dynamic and have often posted strange things about each other.
They are both odd.

I appreciate that they talk a lot about how hard they work on their marriage, but I also feel like if they have to work THIS hard, then maybe it's not a good marriage or one worth saving.

This.
I find them both really annoying in their public personas, especially him. But there's no indication this recent issue has had any negative impact on their marriage. It was just a screw up because Bell made the joke at the worst possible time (during DV awareness) right before she was supposed to promote the second season of her rom com. So she's been MIA during promotion because obviously they decided it would be better for her to lay low.
The thing about these two (and one of the reasons I find them so annoying) is that they seem to really embrace their deep personality flaws as part of their relationship. My brother and his second wife are like this. It's like "omg we're both such selfish, narcissistic screw ups -- we're perfect for each other!" And in a way they are, but it also makes them insufferable to be around.

This. I would totally say this to my husband, but would never post it on social. That was her mistake.
It wasn't just a random mistake, they are very attention seeking on social media. Obviously it's helped their careers and especially his podcast stuff to make him seem more famous but it also rubs some people the wrong way.
They think they're so cool and edgy when really they're just self-centered and deeply annoying.
