Well, at least you make your bias clear. 3 pics from Vassar v 1 from W&L?

That being said, most Vassar kids are like Lena Dunham's character in Girls (I hated that show). Artsy St. Ann's alums who think they are edgy but can be that way because they have daddy's bankroll behind them. Mixed in with lots of diversity which makes them feel good about themselves.

How exactly do you know all of these Vassar kids?

The schools you mentioned have something particular that appeals to you. Curious what they are?

Wait. People can research and find schools outside of DCUM?!?!? That's nuts.

In the same article, Vassar was listed as one of the elite schools that enrolled the highest percentage of low and middle income students.

W&L has a very generous financial aid policy, so if you lower income you will probably go there for free. I'm not sure about Vassar's financial aid.

Clearly a lot of low income students are making Vassar work.

Both have mediocre numbers. All lacs are test optional, a large percentage of admits did not submit scores, so the reported numbers are not as meaningful.

W&L is fratty bros and broettes who play sports and binge drink like crazy (especially with their frat/sorority friends during their infamous Spring Term). After graduation, they'll ask their sorority/frat "Big" for a job in finance/consulting where they'll live in up in Manhattan's Murray Hill with all of their bro-y coworkers.

Kidding. Kind of.

I think you were spot on.

Rather than deal in out of date stereotypes, here are some links. Here’s the freshman class profile at Vassar. Most kids are from New York or New England:

https://www.vassar.edu/admission/quick-facts/class-profile/#:~:text=Here%20are%20some%20demographics%20for%20the%20Class,Class%20of%202028%20also%20speaks%2049%20languages.
Here it is for W&L:

https://www.wlu.edu/admissions/apply/new-class-profile/

W&L has more kids from the southeast and south, more private school students. Vassar has more international students, Both have a majority receiving aid and a substantial percent of Pell grant recipients.

Seriously. They’re polar opposites.

How so? This isn’t obvious to immigrant families.

Well to start, one is located in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia and the other is located in New York. The cultures of those two places are very different.

And most students are not locals. How are the students different?

I don’t even know where to begin.

You can start by saying 80%+ white at W&L, and her tech immigrant son will have a difficult time fit in.
