Nobody is dumping money into Lax, it’s a money loser with a very niche fan base.

So the school's have to come up with $22 Million to pay football and basketball players and the the idea here is that they'll expand the number of free rides in LAX from 15 or do to 48?

And you think that'll happen?

Every one of those 27's were told they were tuition free. A number of other schools told our son he'd be tuition free or very close with scholarship, financial aid and grant packages all arranged by the school.

We were told that Penn State will be at 24 scholarships for the class entering in 2027 and hope to get up to 30 within 2 years after that.

Some big football schools structure offers across both athletic $$ and NIL. We know a female Penn State commit who is getting 60% athletic scholarship and the rest in NIL. Same total $$ as a full ride, but NIL$$ isn't guaranteed for 4 years.

You don't have to be at an opt in school to participate in NIL. There are deals out there for lacrosse players. Most probably are 4 figure types, an occasional 5. Schools will also have plenty of ways to do it thru donors if they want to and have them at their disposal.

That said, PSU giving everyone full scholarships plus NIL is laugh out loud funny (and likely trolling).

I heard they're giving them real estate single families as the area doesn't have crazy high RE prices.
Also 2 - 4 full week vacation trips/year, mostly international. Laxers at PSU have it good.

The info in this entire string of posts is almost entirely wrong. Roster limits are the new reality in all D1 sports, including lax. Schools that “opted in” are agreeing to those roster cap numbers. The vast majority of athletic departments with men’s lacrosse programs consistently in top 25 are NOT flush with $$ to compete in this new world. Maryland? Nope. Their athletic dept is broke. Ivy’s? Nope. They have bigger endowments then almost every other school, but didn’t opt in and don’t allow collectives to pay athletes. Maybe the few lax powers that are in Power 4 football conferences that do have $$, like Penn State, Ohio State and UNC, will elevate in stature and capability, but that’s about it for now.
