We were on MEVC 13-2 last year and it was lovely. We are returning to MEVC 14-2 this year with only a few returning players. Some received 1's offers from MEVC or other teams, some were not asked back. NONE OF THEM WERE MEAN. Hope to see you at MEVC soon!

When we tell folks she has an offer from MEVC, we hear “they’re so mean!”

This will be her 2nd year club ball. She also has offers from two other places. MEVC is the only Club where we haven’t spoken to other parents about the good, bad, ugly.

Insight is appreciated!

My daughter just accepted an offer from MEVC and I’m disheartened to hear that it is known for mean girls! Does anyone with experience actually on the club want to chime in specifically about whether there’s a mean girl culture that is somehow worse than at other clubs?

My daughter took an offer and she is not mean! We’re new so can’t speak to girls already there.

I came here to say the same thing. My DD will be new to MEVC and she is not mean either!

Yay!

They posted the information on Facebook on Sunday at 8:40PM (Nov 3, 5:30-7:00PM, Adventist Healthcare Fieldhouse). I missed it because I check Facebook only once in a blue moon. Apparently they wanted to give a chance to those who missed the regular tryouts (which means they were aiming higher and MEVC was not even on their radar). They implied that others who wanted a second look should also show up. Since this didn't come on any official channel, we had no idea about it. Not sure whether my DD had a chance to make MEVC in the first place, but now she looks like she was not really interested in the club.

They are probably trying to capture additional players who were left without a club after the regular tryouts. They likely hope to find some higher level players who could not make the more competitive teams. This is probably bad news for the players who haven't heard back from MEVC yet - they would rather have another round of tryouts before considering them as worthy of an offer.

Deadline to accept an offer isn't until tomorrow night. I'm not sure these players have received no's from other clubus yet, right? Or are you assuming they are players who didn't receive yes's yet? The makeup tryouts were 5:30-7:00 pm tonight.

It is really strange to find no information about a tryout (when, where) on the club website. Not only there is no info, but there is no link: it is as if this tryout never happened. I wonder how much of this was the need for additional players compared to the opportunity to make $3200 in a couple of hours.

What I heard through my kid was that it was an invitation secondary tryout for specific positions where they wanted to see more of certain players, so basically a call back interview for people that had received a maybe. But I guess possible they also let in some people that had not yet tried out with them but had struck out with higher level teams.

I think it’s just for certain positions where they were still deciding.

There were probably 80 girls in attendance. They didn’t specify any positions on their website or email to parents.
