They might remember something about the White House burning, but probably not who it was Irvin what war.
I don’t remember the White House burning although I don’t remember a lot of trivia in history.
I wonder how U.K. teaches the incredibly massive amount of damage they have done world wide. The colonialism, the slave trade, stealing land especially by their neighbor Ireland. Other countries have done the same but not close to the level that England has done. It’s just a horrible little country.
The US doesn't exactly teach how much damage we've done globally, either. Neither does Japan, and they've done some horrific sh(t in Asia.
It’s obviously been a very long time since you’ve been in a history class
The Germans are the only ones who teach about their horrific past, and prosecute holocaust deniers.

Specifically, when the war broke out, Britain was fighting in the Peninsular War which involved fighting against France in Spain and Portugal. There would be a lot to learn about British actions during that time and the burning of the home of the leader of what they probably considered a provincial backwater was probably not particularly important.
And yet I was taught about ALL those European wars, in addition to our own. In PG County Public Schools.

Nonsense, you wretched little ingrate. We are the country that invented the steam engine, penicillin, all the things that make life comfortable and worth living. We not only abolished slavery many decades before the US, we went to great expense to use the Royal Navy to stamp out the slave trade.
