It's about saving energy and saving money, plus not being such a delicate flower that you can only be comfortable within a narrow temperature range.
In the winter, we wear layers (sweaters or sweatshirts) at home and put extra blankets on the bed. We turn on the heat when needed but also adapt to the season.

You are purposely being ignorant...people are trying to save money. Why else wouldn't they turn it on?
I'm the PP who keeps it at 65. I want to save money too, but you do that by setting the temperature - whether the heat is "on" for the season doesn't change that. PPs seem to see some value in not switching over from A/C to heat or not turning on the furnace for the season, but I don't know what that value is.
