I love a welcome bag because it includes the schedule, snacks and bottles of water.

Reliable transportation to the rehearsal dinner and wedding are very important. Make sure the venue can hold all the guests even if it rains.

Make sure there’s breakfast for guests available at the hotel or nearby. A list of activities or available hotel spa services would be nice. Sometimes weddings have a club room available for wedding guest socializing, drinks and snacks.

What are things for the 3 day weekend and at the wedding/reception event that you'd like/want/need, or things that were a nice touch or totally worthless?

This is so fun! I love the built in assumptions to ward off the haters. OP: are you or a family member getting married, or are you a wedding planner to the rich and famous?

So far I think snacks and the WhatsApp group have been the best ideas!

Not a literal basket, but a collection of things, in say, a bag?

Pp who just got back from a destination wedding- I want to add that there was a dinner before the wedding (we paid for our own food for that one) as well as an after party (we didn’t pay for that one). Those were fun. Any time with our family was fun.

That’s only because you obviously wouldn’t be invited to a wedding in Rome because you are zero fun.

There is something obnoxious about a destination wedding. Unless everything is paid for -- airfare, hotel, etc. -- there should not be any guilt whatsoever in declining the invite to a destination wedding. But there always is guilt involved.

What are you going to do with a basket you got in a foreign country? Are you really going to transport it back with you or are you just going to toss it?

I often stay at a hotel abroad run by a family member and they always gift us snacks, fruit, desserts, in our room every day that we are there. Maybe OP can order something similar for her guests.

I'd love to have a less formal cocktail party or family party before the wedding for more chatting.

I once stayed in a hotel in Florence with a rooftop bar with a view. There were no events there at the time. In fact, there was no bar service when I was there. (No problem, because I don't drink, and I was with kids.) But I loved the rooftop view of the city. It would have made a great place for a family reunion type party.

I would not want lots of extra scheduled events. Just a chance to meet up with people who are not doing the rehearsal dinner. Unless you're doing a rehearsal dinner for everyone attending...

A reliable schedule, information about venues for events, personal time.
