Actually - both teachers AND government workers can be striver helicopter moms. But mostly its the lawyers. But none have a monopoly on maintaining an obsessive focus on their kids applications

In a human proctored exam hall there is no need for the pen. Students can use locked down devices the same way they do for the PSAT and plenty of other assessments.

I’ve read in multiple places that they are looking for less than perfect grammar, including lack of the use of the Oxford, period less than perfect sentence structure. It shows them that you have not used AI.

Sane with ours- AP Lang & AP Lit. And he really works hard with the kids on actual teaching—essay re-writes when he hands back a C which is pretty much an average essay grade- but then teaches what they need to do- gives feedback, etc. Also- first quarter are always the lowest grade while they are first learning. They do a lot if in-class writing.

I have one kid with dysgraphia and another kid who permanently damaged their dominant hand tendons playing a sport so I don’t love this.
I grew up hating handwriting and taught myself to speed type at 12 so never really hand write anything after that—this was in the 80s. I can remember running my hand under hot water it hurt so much after an essay.

I prompted it with a metaphor and theme. fed it the extra curriculars and told it 650 words. It gave me a rough draft that was 80% there.
