We’ve been through this before and it drives Emory mom insane, but Wake beats Emory in acceptances among cross admits. Some smart kids also want fun. Also think it is a peer for UVA, Davidson and UNC (instate). Vandy and Dartmouth are likely reaches for kids for whom Wake is a target. Similar type of kid though.

Wake boosters should stay in their Top 75 lane and leave Emory out of the nonsense. Emory admin do not think Wake is a peer.

See, Emory mom hates that Wake wins cross admits. Doesn’t change that Emory is where fun goes to die and kids before Wake. Don’t think SAT test scores particularly meaningful when both schools have less than 50 percent of class submitting SAT but the correct range for Emory is 1480 to 1540 (per latest cds).

Wake For3st is a hot school. The U.S. News rankings are crap and the fact that Wake has fewer poors is frankly not a reason for a proper ranking system to rank it lower; it is instead a reason to rank it higher. IYKYK.

You can have lots of top 1% families, but they need paired in the new rankings with lots of Pell Grant kids too. USNW now likes barbell schools with lots of rich and lots of poor kids - squeezing out the middle/UMC.

Wake Forest is just Alabama with a higher price tag, less hot sororities, a much worse football team, and more obnoxious carpetbaggers from New Jersey.

It offers the illusion of private prestige for kids who are too afraid to admit that what they really want is the SEC experience.

Maybe actually look at percentage of Pell grant eligible at each school (too logical for a troll)

Vandy: 23 percent
Dartmouth: 23 percent
Wash U: 20 percent
Georgetown:15 percent
Wake Forest:9 percent

Amherst is ranked as a liberal arts school which has a different set of criteria, but has the highest percentage of Pell grant eligible among any of the schools you mentioned, 25 percent.

That is probably true. Kid is at Vanderbilt now. Wake was his target along with UGA. Safeties included Auburn honors.

I know DS has at least two close friends at V. who also applied to Wake
