The Ten Year Affair by Erin Somerset- available 10/21.

The author explores two scenarios between a couple contemplating an affair. Sounds interesting.

Can't believe no one has mentioned "The Names" yet. Depending on what you name your kid, how will their life turn out?

I read it back when it came out, early in my marriage. Loved it on multiple levels - first as an interesting, easy-to-read novel, and also as a thoughtful take on how we view and show up in our own life and the other choices we might make instead. (Road-not-taken, albeit in a different way.)

If you're interested more historical fiction versions of "paths not taken," Goodreads has a category/genre for that. (For example, if the Axis powers won WWII instead of the Allied Powers.)

This is a "time travel" book, but back to the protagonist's own life: Alice, almost 40, finds a way back and forth to her earlier self at 16 years, and has a chance to reassess her decisions. But the center of the story is her dying, much loved father, who she gets to experience again in his earlier stages of life. Thought it was a really great book - though the focus may be a little different than your request.

I loved this book!
