Same - I have -9 in one eye and a -8.5 with astigmatism in the other, and I have very dry eyes. Dailies have been a life saver.
Dailies are ok but stopped working for me when I turned 40. I had to take them out mid day bc my eyes were so dry. I had been wearing contacts since middle school. Not tolerating contacts happened pretty fast. LASIK was a great decision. I’m the -7.5 posted above.
I also spent a lot of money on the thinnest lens but no matter how thin, you can’t hide the prescription. They’re like magnifying glasses.

My lenses are trifocals. My contacts make me unable to drive or read. I look pretty but can't function.

I had horrible eyes my whole life -7.50 and finally got LASIK at 40. I had dry eye for a year, but everything healed well, and I'm so glad I went through with it. Also, the doctor preemptively under corrected one eye so that I won't need reading glasses for a while. I am 46 now, and I don't have any issues with close reading, yet.
This is not horrible. I’m worse in both eyes and it’s fine.
What? At -7.5 I could hardly see anything unless it was like 2 inches from my face.
Do you wear glasses or contacts? For some people it's a real hassle wearing heavy glasses every day, and contacts dry out your eyes. It's worth exploring options and then deciding.

Anonymous wrote:Is doing eye therapy to improve your vision an option? Then you might be able to have a less "heavy" prescription.
