DD has watched full games on her own. Any time that we have had "film sessions" it's been focused moments which is much better than just sitting around and watching a full game.

Totally agree with this- our club includes it in the fee but under 2 different coaches now (both good coaches so not a critique), it's never been used. The kids use it to post their goals/saves/amazing moments.

Love the idea of an occasional film review.

The main outcome of the VDA film study is making players fearful of being called out during the review in front of the team. In theory that motivates them to work harder. In practice it builds a toxic fear culture. My daughter hates it.

Film review sucks. It’s boring. It’s not a fun time. Ever get a room of kids together to watch a game they already played and know the score of? Is film review helpful, sure. Is having better players a bad thing?

Usually the more athletic team wins in girls soccer. You should go see the ecnl finals some time.

Both my kids teams do game film review more so for my older one. But at least once or twice a season for the younger one. They also get film homework to do, but I think that is less effective.
