They create ruts and damage the grass when they turn, plus the cut is very uneven. The times I’ve asked for the clippings to be bagged, they have to use a standard push-behind mower and it looks a thousand times better with no damage. Even cuts, no ruts.

Am I out of line to tell them not to use the giant mower? Total lot is about 7500 sq ft, with grass maybe half of that so a standard suburban yard. Or do I just need to find another service?

Find another service. Chances are they do commercial customers and a few residential to make their 40 hours a week up.

Your lawn is tiny, mow it yourself. It's just exercise.

It’s time for you to get an Eco push mower. Doing it yourself has many benefits.

See who else uses a lawn service in your neighborhood that doesn't use stand-on mowers. Chances are it would be a smaller business that might also charge less. My neighbor next door has a lawn service that uses the stand-on mowers. I timed then once and they finished the lawn (1/4 acre lot, maybe 50% lawn) in 4 minutes with a crew of 4 simultaneously mowing, trimming and blowing.

A much smaller company mows 2/3 of the lawns in our neighborhood using push movers. It's a father and son and while they take longer (20-30 min per yard) the lawns look equally as good and they charge less.
