And yet USA Swimming’s own data hub, publishes swimmers identifying information on their website - middle names, age, club, etc.

Not sure I see why USA Swimming passed a new rule that they themselves are not following. I vote for PVS publishing results files as long as USA swimming is publishing the same data.

The issue is that swimcloud is great for recruiting and understanding how you will be looked at. The other sites make it a lot easier to know if you made cuts because you can plug your name in for meets.

This rule is hurting the kids who are serious swimmers and making things more opaque when swim should not be.



Results from a Virginia meet last weekend are on MySwimIO so they aren’t fully adhering either.

I saw on a FB group myswimio is trying to rally parents to complain to the LSC. It looks like Virginia and PVS are only ones adhering so far to the rule change. But is USA swimming did the rule (still can't find it) then it does not matter. It seems it is more of a way to make them the only source in town for data.

+1. The names, times and ages concerns make no sense, it’s all on Meet Mobile. Just eliminate the ability to publish kids’ specific dates of birth. Swimcloud has been a big part of recruiting, it would be a shame if it was rendered useless.

I hope this is not happening. If you want to compete in athletics of any sort, you should accept that basic information about you is going to be readily available. The integrity of the data and the competitions outweighs anyone's misplaced desire to keep their age or times a secret.

Sounds like a made up rule that other LSCs haven’t heard about yet. Plenty of meet results from last weekend made it onto myswimio in other LSCs.

Virginia Swimming posted that their BoD voted to only post PDFs. I wonder is this is a larger push from USA Swimming to no longer share the meet result files. PVS hasn't published BoD meeting minutes since June so it's hard to tell why on the PVS side.


This would ruin swimcloud (incredibly useful for college) and all of the sites. It would made USA swimming the only game in town and their site is trash.

+1. I don’t understand the privacy arguments, but for the inclusion of swimmers’ DOBs, which it sounds like could be disabled and not included. Every one with MM can see the meets swimmers participate in and what their times are, the sites just allowed it to be compiled in 1 place for easy reference. And I agree, USA swimming’s website sucks for this purpose.
