The MAGA split in the US Catholic church is going to be interesting.

If the Pope keeps it up I give it 6 months before someone in the Trump administration calls him leftist, communist, woke, enemy, or the like.

MAGA evangelicals don't really consider Catholics to be "Christian" in the way they are. It's not like they care what the highest Catholic cleric says.

There are a lot of MAGA Catholics. How do they reconcile the words of Pope Leo, Pope Francis and Jesus himself with their MAGA beliefs? Who knows, but they know they really don’t like women who want abortions and trans people.

There’s quite a few MAGA Catholics on the highest court of the land.

These people are Catholics in name only, just as many MAGA are Christians in name only.

Jesus' family were immigrants and refugees. He preached about welcoming the stranger, and loving thy neighbor, who is not just John next door.

Jesus's family went home after the danger passed. Something our "refugees" will never do.

Not all. Lots of my friends/ fam are losing their stuff over it.

They are probably the exact same people who will deride anyone disagreeing with the church on abortion as “cafeteria Catholics.”

I’d rather keep them and deport maga to wherever it is their families are from. The problem is that no country on earth would take them.

You sound like Trump when he forgets he’s supposed to pretend to be a Christian.

It’s always interesting to watch Christians rationalize non-Christian behavior. Religious people in general are just toxic people full of judgement and hate.

Not a Catholic, but I love Pope Leo!

He sure did…

Leviticus 19:33-34 (NIV): "When an alien resides with you in your land, do not oppress him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born, and you must love him as you love yourself, because you were aliens in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God".

So, they don't think the VP that they also voted for is a "Christian"?

So glad to hear this from the Pope. MAGA Christians are twisting things so badly to justify cruel and inhumane behavior, all while wearing a cross.

I know some MAGA Catholics who, while Pope Francis was alive, said they didn't think Jesuits were "real Catholics." I am praying for a schism.
