Nobody has any interest in how much money i make. None of my family or friends wants my money either. It feels weird because I watch Dave Ramsey Show videos and this is a common among the callers.

I give them some believable number. If they don ask for money, it won't be much.

I might once I’m over 75 yo and next of kin need to know where my stuff is and be my PoA, will executor, etc.
I don’t give out loans.

My neighbor knew my mortgage balance one time and he let it slip once. I was surprised by that but I guess that’s public too?

My adult kids have asked and I've told them. In one case I suspect the question was driven by an existing money anxiety and a need for reassurance that there would always be a safety net. In the other case, the kid has the same job as one of us and wanted to know what the salary could look like down the road.

Not really. Some people are just curious about how much someone in medical sales or an engineer makes. My family is pretty open about money. I definitely tell my parents our salaries.
Dh had a fancier degree and his parents kept nagging me to stay home when I had kids. Finally I had to explain it to them that my boring job paid more and he couldn’t support our family.
