I make my bed each morning but it takes less than 30 seconds. No top sheet as we use comforter cover. Fluff up and align pillows when I’m up - I usually air out the bottom sheet by opening the comforter like a book (parallel to pillows) - as im heading out I’ll pull it back up. That said I don’t make my kid make his bed, and usually just an align the comforter myself so it looks neater. But that takes 5 seconds.

Nope. My kids don't make their beds in the morning. They do help me make the beds in the weekends, but they do not come back from school to a messy room or house.

My daily routine includes spending 10 minutes (yes, I time myself) in each of the 4 bedrooms - airing, opening the blinds, dusting, removing trash from the waste paper basket, taking dirty laundry, removing any dishes, organizing books, clothes, making beds, quick vacuum.

If that were my philosophy, I’d have them do it when they get home from school, not when they have to catch a 6:50am bus.

Why would you even think that my kids have beds to sleep in? That shows so much privilege! Lol

While I value bed-making, I would not have them do it in this case. It’s hard enough to get them out the door at that age, and frankly I would prioritize five more minutes of sleep over getting their bed made when they have to leave for school so freakishly early.

No. Bed making is not a priority in my house.

I love making my bed and makes me feel more organized. I don't make my kids make their own bed, we just fix the comforter / sheets every once in a while (like another poster, this usually happens at night when they are getting into bed!). I do have them straighten things out before they have friends over.

My kids have to leave the house right after 7 for the bus and truly nothing happens other than the minimum requirements of life before they leave.

My kid who has to get on the bus at 6:50 makes her bed in the morning of her own free will. It's so weird to me. I've never been one to make my bed, and surely don't make my kids do it. I've honestly never understood it...of all the things I have to force them to do, that's not on the list

I can slide out of bed in the morning and the bed barely looks disturbed. Making up my bed could easily be done in under a minute. It takes more time to replace the decorative pillows and shams than to tidy the sheets and covers.

One of my kids is the exact opposite of me. She moves around in her sleep a lot, gets out of bed frequently, flops down hard on her bed, tugs hard on sheets and blankets. Even if the bed was nice and tidy and the sheets were tucked in tight at bedtime, by morning, her comforter is on the floor, the flat sheet is balled up at the foot end of the bed, the fitted sheet is half off the bed, the mattress protector has come loose from one corner. She has ADHD and developmental coordination disorder. It’s harder and takes longer for her to make up a bed compared to most people. There’s no way I’m enforcing that in the mornings before a 7:45 start time.

The kids strip their beds for our cleaning service and put their dirty sheets in the laundry room. I lay out clean sheets for the cleaners to make up the beds. Other than that, I pretty much only enforce my kids making their beds when guests are coming over. I like to keep my own tidy though.

Nope, totally unnecessary, especially that early in the morning.

Do they get home earlier? Could they do it then and also put away laundry or whatever needs to be done in the room?

My kids have to straighten up a few times a week, but in the morning I don't care about the beds. The kids have enough to do to get ready for the day.

I also never make my bed and my kids really don’t either. I grew up with a mom who was pretty strict about it. I just don’t care. No one sees your bed except you. It’s like the least important thing I can think of to do with my time. The most I do is take the covers and glove them a good flip to air them out and straighten them out.
