If I had a say in my stepson's education, he would be in private. My three bio children attend private. My stepson's high school was on lock down this morning because a student did attempt to bypass security and had a loaded weapon.

PP here. I would add that if you are more concerned with the "trauma" of drills than an actual shooting, that's irrational for a typical kid. It is reasonable to be concerned about lowering risks of school shootings. I am. And that's why we feel good about a "good" MCPS school.
