Yes, we do. But, the two families we do this with we’re super, SUPER close to with - almost to the point that they’re more or less family.
If it were just a random family of a kid on a sports team…? Idk, I’d have to give it a bit more consideration.

Subject: Sleepovers and Youth Sports?
With really close friends, it was fine. They had so many sleepovers that it wasn't a novelty anymore. School nights were also fine, they all went to sleep on time. Boys each in their bunk and the girls shared a queen. (My dd & ds were best friends with another same age and gender sibling set).
Will depend on the kids and the goals and parenting style of the host family.

Subject: Sleepovers and Youth Sports?
Rec sports, a sleepover is fine. I’d prefer not to do it before an early game, but eh. Travel sports, no. We tried this year when the travel games were in the afternoon and my daughter is a pretty good sleeper. She was still pretty tired and doesn’t want to do that again. Maybe if it’s a very best friend we’d try it, but not worth being sluggish and letting down the team.

My kids have never showered at a sleepover. If they have sports in the afternoon before, they’ll shower at home before going to the sleepover. Probably wearing clothes and then changing into PJs over there at bedtime. If they get sweaty playing outside at the sleepover, then oh well, they just go to bed a little stinky that night. But usually sleepovers are more about playing games or watching a movie and having snacks and chatting.

Do kids bring change of clothing & take shower in host house? Or do they just wear pajamas coming to host house? What happens if kids sweat a lot doing sports like in late afternoon at host house before dinner & bedtime?

I agree with this. Especially if it's a travel sport, you are on a team where kids have committed more time and resources. It will affect performance.

Depends on the sporting level. We have played recently soccer and travel soccer. A sleep over the night before a mid-day soccer game w teammate is likely fine. But not for a travel game.
We let our ES aged DD have sleep over 2-3 times per year and she is ALWAYS tired the next day. And when she is tired, it does impact her performance on the field in a negative way.
I would wait until middle school or where there is not a game the next day.

Nearly all the sleepovers my kid gets invited to are for birthdays. I have no issue with prioritizing those parties over youth sports.

Sleepovers are very rare - we prioritize good sleep. My kids would rather be picked up at a party around 10-11pm instead of sleeping over. Part of it is that they have sports on weekends (and homework) and they want to be on the ball.
