He’s in treatment for alcohol. That’s all. They are making things easier for him by reassigning him after his treatment to get a fresh start. No doubt, in a less intense position. He was already slated to transfer next year (10th year) as they usually move pastors around every 5-6 years but he was staying for longer bc ppl liked him. It’s a tough job and a lonely one. I wish him the best.
I am the OP of this post and this is also what my 8th grader told me (the kids are devastated btw - they love him). I just assumed she did not know what she was talking about given the anonymous posts and website mentioned here.
How do you know this is correct? If it’s true I wish they would have just said so.

That is not all he has been investigated for sexual harassment.

This is a ridiculous site with no credibility whatsoever.
I don’t know the guy being mentioned and am not even Catholic. However, this kind of smear site is horrifically irresponsible.
It produces no evidence, merely unsupported accusations and innuendo, and the person who posted it here should be ashamed of themselves.
Another Catholic supporting the church over the abuser.
Shame on you. Get out of that cult.

Thank you for clarifying. Fr. Matt is great and will be very missed. I wish him the best. Sadly, we missed his last weekend before departing.
