Quite the opposite. It was a long time coming and very considered. For many years the pluses (great stroke technician, deep relationship with many swimmers and families) outweighed the minuses (immaturity, emotional instability, favoritism) but it reached a breaking point this summer. It’s better for everyone to get a fresh start - I know he will bring his A game to a new team.



Please enlighten me about favoritism; times should speak for themselves when selecting swimmers for events. Was this not the case?


How myopic are you? There are many forms of harmful favoritism beyond who makes A meets. DR has always been a strict ladder team, enforced by the team reps.

One day, all you swim parents will realize what it did to you, and what terrible people you became as a result of having a 8 or 10 year old that was slightly successful- it turned you crazy and only caring about winning on Saturdays. Hopefully then you can repent and become better people.

So this guy was with the same team for over a decade and you are implying that all of the reps at DR hated working with him? I don’t think he would have lasted as long as he did if this were true.


Or it was a long slow decline or a series of ups and downs with the people he worked most closely with. Point is, it is irrelevant and no need to drag his name through the mud in a public forum.

So this guy was with the same team for over a decade and you are implying that all of the reps at DR hated working with him? I don’t think he would have lasted as long as he did if this were true.

Agreed, he definitely got in the water and was quite engaged with my kids. What really surprised me is that he knew exactly what my squad kid needed to do to improve. Anyways, we will miss him and I hope the new coach is as good.
