For a major renovation -- e.g. total gut job of a kitchen or adding on a room -- I would spring for porta-potty. For a two week job in a suburban area near commercial businesses with bathrooms available? Nope.
It may shock you to know that I don't invite the guys who mow my lawn every week to come inside and use the bathroom either. But apparently you all would favor that.
In any case, I do appreciate the replies, even if I admittedly hoped that more people would side with me on this one. Spouse wanted to deny the use of our bathroom altogether, so I guess I assumed my more moderate position was the norm.

The fact that you can’t understand the difference between somebody spending a workday renovating your house and the lawn mowing guy tells me everything I need to know about you.
The fact that you're so angry about it -- and at someone you don't even know -- tells me everything that I need to know about you?
Can I point out that so far I HAVE let these guys use the bathroom? You'd think I handcuffed them to a railing outside, judging from your reaction. Let go of your pearls!

Take comfort, OP, that you are slightly less horrible than your spouse. Congrats, I guess? But at least you've demonstrated that water seeks its own level.
And yes, if one of the landscapers who works on our house knocked on the door and asked to use our bathroom, of course I'd left them. WT actual F?
Thanks. You seem nice!
