It’s not “a vitamin”. It is a medication. And no there have not been anywhere close to the necessary trials. Those that have been done also show the side effects that for many of our kids are the most severe autism symptoms - aggression and tamtrums. Our kids deserve better than this.

And there's a rich history of harm done to kids being prescribed poorly studied medications. They pushed Risperdal off label to kids with ASD and the effects were devastating.

Just to clarify this drug has been around for decades for other uses and there have been larger trials (for other uses). But yes, an FDA approval for autism is clearly a political move. There is promising evidence that it can help some children and it is a water soluble vitamin that is generally well tolerated. However, it probably won't help most kids with autism and will waste a lot of time and money.

MTHFR gene test.

Was looking into it for an autoimmune condition where some with the genetic variation are helped (not cured) by 5-MTHF supplement.

This is not the supplement used for autism as it does not cross the brain barrier.

Which test? The FRAT test or the spinal one? We did the former and my kid did not have the antibodies. It was a couple of hundred dollars and out of pocket.

Yesterday he said the reason why the current recommended childhood vaccine schedule is bad is because it’s too much liquid going into the baby. His personal recommendation was one vaccine per year.

I hate that I'm bringing this up after a Trump/RFK press event, but has anyone been able to get the test for the folate abnormality? My understanding is that autoimmune disorders in the family are a risk factor, which are common in our family.

There is no research supporting the use of this to the degree necessary to make a blanket recommendation. Plus the side effects are aggression and tantrums!
