I loved it. My husband thought it was too slow so stopped. If you can get through the first couple of episodes, it's worth it.

Yes I found Ozark so actually dark I often could not see it. Not sure what this technique is but it’s beyond me. I am not auteur enough to appreciate it.

This show is a cross between Ozark and Vanderpump Rules. In both the best and worst ways.

Nope. Bateman has always had sharp edges. Have you see him in “Bad Words” - the spelling bee movie? He’s fantastic. Snarky and dark. I loved seeing glimpses of that edgy side in Ozark, too. Good stuff.

It really picks up. I was kind of "meh" after the first episode but my husband encouraged me to keep watching and I'm glad I did. I'm 4 episodes in and am really liking it. Not a great show but definitely entertaining. I read in the NYT that the writers were inspired by The Spotted Pig (a former "hot spot" restaurant in NYC that closed in 2020).

Jude Law is amazing in everything. I really underestimated his talent but am now a believer, lol.

Watched all of Black Rabbit and thought Jude Law was great (even though his character was very much like the amazing British character he played in The Nest).

Jason Bateman was miscast. A stronger actor (e.g., Ben Mendelsohn or Christoph Walz) coud have made it more interesting, perhaps?

I absolutely agree with pp that switching the roles would have made this show much more electric.

He is an actor, he is not defined by any one role. He was not nice in Juno.

He said on his podcast that he essentially always plays himself, with slight variations. I like him but he’s not like a Cate Blanchett level acting talent.
