You're going to separate your kids from their father for the sake of Janney????????


That is insanity. It's a fine school and a great community if you live in the neighborhood. It has it's good and bad parts, good and bad teachers. It is not any better than thousands and thousands of other elementary schools. Frankly it's not better than Hearst.

Signed, parent of 3 Janney grads who spent a decade being very involved at the school.

I’m extremely confused by this whole scenario. I think…just move with your family? There are lots of good elementary schools.

The only reason I might stay behind at Janney is if my kid was in 5th grade and was very attached to staying. (Even then it would be a tough call because 5th is the weakest year at Janney, so the non-academic considerations would have to weigh strongly. My DD loved Janney, her classmates, loved doing all the 5th grade “stuff”. )

Current Janney parent here. I wouldn't move from Hearst, Hearst is great!

Janney has a slight edge. I am glad you made the Harvard remark because I am so afraid of turning it down and taking away that opportunity of a number one school from her. Our inboundry is hearst. I just trying to figure out if it's truly that Amazing.

My kids went to Janney, and I would not say it's worth separating your family to stay there. It's a fine elementary school. I don't think it's one of a kind in the country?

+1. I would move because it would give your child a chance to make friends in your new area. Making friends is easiest in elementary school.

+1. Current Janney parent here - it’s a fantastic school and we love the community. It has been a special, warm, and nurturing environment for our kids. But a move during ES and adjustment to a new school for your child seems easier than sticking around with one parent moving away, just to attend Janney.

It's not. It's a fine school. My kids have both had mostly good experiences, but it's certainly nothing so special to stay behind for.
