Maybe they’re paying it forward. We were the lucky beneficiary when ours weren’t quite old enough to drive (they were “young” for their class) and fellow students would provide a ride. We encouraged our kids to do the same now for underclassmen in that situation. It’s also one of the reasons we pay for one tank of gas per month for ours (so they’ll freely offer to drive others).
Being on-time and thanking the driver
every time will go a long way. And, if it’s a teen driver, definitely offer gas money or the occasional stop for a treat.
