Was it at least 366 days past your last one? Carefirst seem to be sticklers on that.

We got an $8 bill for some bloodwork overage but that’s it.

Maybe they billed it incorrectly? I have a high deductible plan and pay about $200/visit normally, but nothing for annual exam.

I'm happy enough with One Medical. I have a PCP that I like and can opt for the treat-now service if ever needed. Never had trouble getting an in-person visit when needed since they have so many offices. But I don't use them for anything specialized as you're describing. And they do seem stricter these days about med refill requests made via the app.

I think your expectations are much too high for what they provide, so agree that finding an upgraded concierge would better suit you. Even then you may be hard pressed to get what you're describing unless willing to pay $$$$.

I basically keep One Medical as a concierge urgent care but still go to INOVA for my primary care since they can provide me with in network referrals.

You're not going to get what you want unless you're willing to pay $2-3000 a year for concierge.

This seems very unreasonable. Renewals should be good for a year or more without intervention. That seems heavy handed and "appointment-thirsty"

For the injection I'm not sure how you get the injection without going in and being looked at?

I have diabetes and my doctor monitors my readings every 3 months before deciding whether to adjust my dose or continue as before. I don’t have a problem with that.

I don’t think your issues are with one medical. I’m sure insurance requires an exam for a steroid injection. Probably also PT? Honestly I thought those had to be a series. definitely not something you just call in.

I hate Amazon and was bummed when One Medical was acquired by them, but OP your comments seem to boil down to "they won't give me prescription medication on demand without an exam/consultation" and it's hard to sympathize with that. It sounds like you are medicating a lot of chronic issues and that you think doctors are supposed to just hand you a scrip for the desired drug on demand.

Can you still get same day appointments? Do they do a good job keeping all your medical info in one place? Do the doctors and nurses have pretty good bedside manner and are they decent with follow ups and follow through (sending scrips to the pharmacy, checking in after treatment to makes sure the issue resolved, etc.)? Those were the things I liked about OneMedical when I was with them.

If your goal is to find a doctor who just prescribes whatever meds you want without asking questions or wanting to make sure you actually need that med or that there aren't other, better options to consider (you know, based on their years of medical training and practice), I can't help you.

I have been disappointed with One Medical. The providers are have generally been young and friendly but not particularly experienced, and their referrals to specialists have been to mediocre providers. So they have quantity of support but not quality, kind of like an urgent care.

I've had a lot of problems with billing on their platform where they send bills for amounts that far exceed what I paid for similar services with traditional medical practitioner, and then when I ask they say they've made a mistake and reprocess it. They also send random bills with no explanation at all of what the charges are for.

I haven't had difficulty with prescriptions/refills, but I don't have controlled substances prescribed. I note they keep trying to push my existing prescriptions to Amazon Pharmacy when my employer health insurance encourages CVS caremark which is cheaper for them. Amazon Pharmacy doesn't have an agreement with CVS caremark, but it took me a number of phone calls to figure that out and understand why my prescriptions weren't been fulfilled properly.
