NP. Hate the smoke smell. I grew up somewhere cold and bleak in the winter and we had that smell outdoors constantly for at least 6 months out of the year. Smelling it now brings me back to that desolate feeling. And yes, it's bad for you and others as well.

Burning wood is not polluting. It releases the exact same amount of carbon as it will release if left to rot.

There is a deep sensory pleasure with the warmth of a fire, the scent of the smoke, the crackling of the logs, watching tiny sparks floating into the night.

Even better if I am sitting next to a friend sharing a laugh and a beverage, or a cuddly dog.

Thank you…fire and smoke lovers, inhale smoke all you like but I wish you wouldn’t force everyone around to inhale your smoke and pollute the environment for some cute cozy feelings. Put up one of those TV video fires or get a gas fireplace (still not great but at least it’s not smoky) and call it a day. (Yeah I know no one will change, but needed a vent after I just had to close all my windows from the smoke coming in. It’s not even cold!!!)




Gas fires are not the same at all. Just leave it because you obviously don’t understand it.

Wow, I had the same exact feeling today. One of our neighbors a few doors down is obsessed with burning logs in his fireplace. I just don't get the appeal.
