If you have to be in office take the day off yourself and enjoy going somewhere (zoo, fall festival, museum, shopping) together.
I feel like a teacher wrote this. It's so out of touch with working parents.
The whole DC area seems to have returned to the office and has no telework whatsoever. I do not have leave for the 10+ random days off in addition to regular Christmas/spring break weeks and also wanting to take a family vacation. Push all these random days off together and let us go on real vacations.
What school districts should move towards is each kid getting 2 days that they can use towards whatever religious holiday they'd like, without an absence being charged. And keep schools open and running like normal. Only major federal holidays should be celebrated, not President's Day.

Anonymous wrote:Idk PPs situation, but my office was previously authorized to telework on school closures days. It was just recently announced that's no longer the case. Luckily I have SACC that covers a fair amount, but a lot of people are in trouble on short notice.

And some of us have WFH agreements that prohibit caring for children during work hours.
