Its not something i m going to divorce over. It is not uncommon for people to dislike certain things in their spouses. I believe in improving the situation and removing the defects than simply giving up. So far i have been very polite in asking her to exercise, eating healthy etc: if i don’t see a significant improvement soon, i will be very blunt will tell her in no uncertain terms to lose weight. I will still be polite but at the same time will be firm.

I compliment her all the time about how smart she is, not how she looks. The way she looks isn’t why I married her. Focusing on looks is pretty superficial. Her worth and self-esteem isn’t based on her appearance.

My exH never did in over a decade. The most he’d say was “cute”. I actually believe he was withholding on that, as if he complimented me it might give me self esteem and he wanted me to feel bad about myself.

Current partner says it, means it, and wow it sure makes a difference. Our sex life is way better as a result as well.

To the point it is truly an annoyance, like it’s his nervous tic.
