Unbelievable you are denying this. UNBELIEVABLE! I mean, there’s a federal investigation going on!

Here you go, antiSemite:

This doesn’t actually refute that the whole thing is BS made up by the Trump administration to go after universities.

The sad thing is, there *is* antisemitism at UVA (and everywhere in America)—from NeoNazis. They walked through Grounds eight years ago chanting “Jews will not replace us,” and Trump defended them. They are even bolder now. Let me know when Trump decides to focus on that.

I’m a Jewish alum, btw.

Exactly. Why any Jewish person believes that Trump is on our side is beyond me.

Jewish students have very rarely been threatened personally and individually. If you want to cite a source of a Jewish student personally threatened on a campus, please do so. There are extremely few.

Please understand the difference.

I am largely on the same page as you that there is a middle ground. But Jews were threatened at Columbia. Not nearly to the extent that Trump wants us to believe - it was not a gigantic problem at all. But it did happen. And the university largely ignored it.

Trump's solution is not the right one. Trump should not have even been involved. Those who claim that absolutely nothing happened (I know this is not you) are putting their heads in the sand and ignoring reality. But, as I think you are saying, those who are saying it is a gigantic epidemic and huge problem are also completely wrong.

There is no middle ground these days. Everyone runs to one extreme or another. Trump chooses to deal with issues (and more often "perceived" issues) in the least delicate way possible. It would be a lot better if he started simply then escalated. But he is too dumb to do this. And unfortunately, his brain-washed followers think this is all great because they are being fed false information about what is happening to fit Trump's narrative. And no, I do not have TDS. I have a functioning brain that is able to analyze situations and think intelligently.

I am skeptical that "Trump administration pressure and political interference" has any practical effect on the ordinary student. How does it affect the daily conduct and content of the classes? Whatever that stuff is, it's happening above the heads of the students.

Excuse me?! James Ryan was forced to resign under pressure from Trump administration! You think the students don't notice federal overreach? the assault on academics freedom?

Have they done things to stop this at UVA ?

You are clearly living in a fear-mongering MAGA news bubble. Please find new sources of information and learn to evaluate your sources critically.

Were there anti-Semitic events at UVA? Possibly. Is Trump and MAGA completely blowing them out of proportion (and at other schools) to create drama. Yes.

As I have said before, all of this has made me more excited to send my child to one of these schools because I think that all of the idiots who actually believe it have been weeded out so my child will not have to go to school with any of them. I am very strongly in favor of diverse opinions and think universities should be more welcome to traditional right wing perspectives than they have been, but I do not want MAGA idiots going to school with my child. There are many, many of us in the middle who think that universities were not handling things perfectly but that the Trump solution has actually made things worse, not better. And I say that as a Jew who lives near Columbia so is extremely well aware of what is happening there.

Unfortunately, I think the carefully constructed nuance in that paragraph will go way over the heads of those who are creating the drama, and I will just get a lot of dumb replies.

College choice is about your DC, it’s not about you. It’s also not about you like or dislike a political statement. Does your DC feel the same way strongly?

If you compare the 6 million victims of the Holocoaust to the entire population of the planet, you could try to claim of the victims:

“There are extremely few” . . . .

No thanks. My kid is enjoying his college experience, not looking for reasons to be angry during the best years of his life. Rushing a top-tier house, dating all kinds of pretty girls already, and setting himself up to be a leader on campus, build a lucrative network, and have an amazing future. He's loving life! These angry kids with bull rings protesting for Palestine are just energy vampires sucking the fun out of everything. Who wants that on a college campus? College is supposed to be a blast!

My daughter is a second year. She has not experienced/witnessed any of what you posted. She loves UVA and all that it offers. She is incredibly happy and fulfilled on Grounds.

Why don't you call or email Hillel to ask them? Seems better to ask people who are currently at UVA then a message board.
