HS sweethearts, I was 16 he was 17. We are 35/36 now.

Frat party. He was friends with my best friend’s boyfriend. I was 19 then. I’m 44 now.

Arranged marriage

Single Volunteers of DC in 1999. Staffing a fundraiser event together. We were 29 and 36. Been married 24 years.

I’m 40, and a lot of my male coworkers are also married to docs, or lawyers/other professionals. I work in a large academic center (not DC).

My son’s private school class has six kids who have dual physician parents and a few with docs married to dentists or lawyers. Going to back to school night feels like going to any other professional gathering.

Age 47. Met him at a dance club when I was 23. It was Latin night, he asked me to dance. It was supposed to be a fling.

At the gym.

I visited his site on a work trip. Love at first sight. 2 years long distance then moving in together in my city then marrying and moving around (the world) together. We were in our 20s. 25 years ago.

In dental school.

19 and 21, a mutual friend invited me to a party at his house in college. We’re 38 and 40 now.

On Bumble 10 years ago. Maybe we just got lucky or maybe online dating is way worse now (probably both), but it worked out for us. It was really cool to meet someone where we had zero pre-existing conceptions or ties. Those first few months of dating felt like we lived in our own little world.

Love these stories! DH and I joke that we dodged a bullet meeting before OLD became pervasive. I feel 2nd hand trauma from watching my friends go through OLD.
