That's very doctor if you are using insurance.

I grew up in DC. Arlington hospital was a small hospital that you would never go to if you had something seriously wrong with you.
I have a friend who had a heart attack this summer. He was taken to VHC and they couldn't properly treat him and he died. Maybe he would have died anyway if he'd been taken to a real DC hospital, I don't know. I live in Arlington now and would go to Fairfax or Sibley or Georgetown/GW if I had the choice. I know in an ambulance they don't give you a choice.
I've also heard too many birth nightmare stories about VHC, not being able to get the epidural or even a bed and delivered in a hallway. I chose to go to DC to give birth even though I live quite close to VHC.

I had both my kids there (emergency c-section and repeat c-section) and had absolutely wonderful experiences there. My only other experience was an ER visit where I thought I was miscarrying and the doctor had a HORRIBLE bedside manner but a sonogram tech was absolutely lovely. For something big, I always would have gone to Inova Fairfax and that is closer to us now anyway.

☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️ This exactly!!! They have their agenda and screw yours! They dont deal with any issues you bring to them. Curious PP what referrals did they send you off with? I got some random vein clinic like what?

Bone density test. The one they recommend for 65 and older. I am mid 40’s.

Are people talking about PCPs in VHC-affiliated offices or the hospital itself?
I've had no issues with the hospital; but I have been having issues with the regular doctor office system.

I had a good experience with an outpatient MRI there and in the emergency room. Though i think the emergency room was better just due to having fewer patients than other places I’ve had to go to.

That's insurance, that's not the practice.
There is a difference between an annual "well visit" check up/physical and a "sick" or cause visit. My doctor (private practice not at VHC) allows maybe one new issue per annual physical and anything else you have to come back.

I received really amazing care there for a 2014 complicated childbirth with Nicu time and maternal hemmorage. The nurses and Drs were excellent and very caring. I also did months of pelvic floor PT that was very well run.
My OB then changed affiliation to Inova so my next was born at Inova Fairfax and I had a really miserable experience with rude nurses who wouldn’t give me basic supplies, never got my epidural as they were understaffed, and the Dr only showed up to catch the baby literally in the last 10 minutes. Combine this with other comments giving good and bad so I think it’s a crapshoot no matter where you go.

Hahah! That's happened to me too.

I've been on GERD medication my entire life they think I need to come in every 3 months for it while my specialist doesn't need to see me but once a year. It's a money grab for refills. F this place.

OP. I have switched my gynecologist to VHC after Foxhall ObGyn imploded and all my docs left.
I have been please with my one visit so far and the weekday walking lab feature for dropping off urine samples. I also have had PFT there in Outpatient Rehab. That was fine but billing a mess.
My DH went to ER this spring. I thought he had a pulmonary embolism. What he had was AFIB and they did a great job of triage, putting him in a bed in ER, starting meds, admitting him to short stay. His care in short stay was fine except meals sucked.
Billing for inpatient was fine.
