Worth checking out Haynes and Paul too. But most schools won't take new kids in late October so they will likely do this year at Roosevelt.

This rating means absolutely nothing without the test scores. And lots of CHEC’s passing AP exam scores are due to AP Spanish. CHEC is not in the top 2% of schools in thr country in any measure besides Jay Matthews’ ridiculous rating system.

It's funny, I'm never on here but the few times that I have been you're always there ready to jump all over CHEC on this issue. What's your beef with the school? Why so nasty?

It’s not nasty it’s the truth. And rating systems like this lead to schools making bad choices for their students. Like putting them in AP classes when they are four grade levels behind in reading. Or convincing kids they are ready for an AP class and then that class gets through 20% of the curriculum. It is detrimental to students.

OP sounds like somebody, to try to make this concrete, trying to place unaccompanied minors who speak Spanish and play soccer in a DCPS school.

For the purposes mentioned above, Roosevelt is fine, nothing great.

OP should probably know that the users of this forum are generally not the kind of families that send their kids to Roosevelt (class based, generally, because Roosevelt does not have outcomes in testing and college placement in keeping with desired middle (or upper) class parent outcomes. But if your goals are "put kids in school where they can speak Spanish and gradually English while playing sports" Roosevelt is fine. Maybe not great. Fine.

Capitol City might be a good option to look at, depending on what sports you're looking for
