I don't think she knew all along. I think she realized at some point when she was too far gone.

The FBI guy basically said that was a lie by the perpetrator, that perpetrators often try to "deflect" and that is a classic example.
Also as OP and others noted - zero surprise from Lauryn. Because she knew all along. 100% just like the mother of the Halloween party girl called it.
