Yup. And yet...this is the right time for MAGA to travel inside of USA. Domestic tourism will prop up economies that are tanking by the worldwide boycott of America.



Maybe those places should make their cities easier to visit. You don’t have to step around the homeless and junkies at Disney.

I'm well-traveled but also love Disney. To each their own. The NYT article was interesting, and accurate. When we go to Disney World we stay deluxe, do the passes to by-pass lines, and don't really worry about budget because we can afford it. We're going this fall and I think the trip will be about $6K. I don't know how a middle-class family can afford Disney World now. I grew up on the other coast in a solidly middle-class family and went to Disneyland at least annually. It was a different time - you just bought tickets when you arrived and stood in line for rides. There weren't "enchanting extras" or fancy dining.


It sure is. With time, Mickey has figured out how to vacuum every possible dollar out of your wallet.


I'm the PP you quoted, and this is the point made in the NYT article. Back in the day the spending money was from the middle class and that's who they catered to. Not the case anymore with the growing wealth disparities. They've realized that there is a component that will pay to have the experiences expedited (guilty as charged), and that's who they cater to now.

NP. Yes, in my experience, people who go to Disney rarely go anywhere else


We used to go to Disney yearly as it was cheap.

$2500 for 8 nights isn't cheap. You have to include food, tickets, plane and other epenses.

Zerp as we probably will not go back any time soon. Love disney but even the miliary prices have gone way up and it used to be super cheap for us, but now not so cheap and not worth it.

17,500 but we stayed at the hotels in Disney, and it was 2 Disneys in another country, so plane tickets were a lot

DH and I went the day before a work trip to Orlando. Stayed a night at the Grand Floridian before going to the other hotel. So $600 for 1 night hotel, maybe $500 for tickets (1 day for me , 2 days for DH. 2 nice dinners and drinks and 2 lunches probably $500. Travel paid for. No souvenirs since we are adults. Fun and worth it.

Huh? We went to Disney, probably 15 years ago.

Right now - we will certainly travel by road (and make it a road trip if possible including other things), find a safe residence inn just outside disney so that we can get better rates as well as earn reward points, do an itinerary of which parks and how to maximize rides and minimize lines etc using several AI helpers, see other shows too, find great places to have great meals.

So, my short answer would be whatever the disney parks cost. We will not be spending on photos, momentos, dining in disney.
