We also looked at Auburn--we were turned off by high staff turnover, general disorganization, and many vacancies in key positions. The head of school at Auburn even told us that Maddux "ran a tight program."

I’ve toured Maddux a few years ago and with all respect the school was not up to the hype.
The program was way more restrictive than I was expecting. Children were in groups of three or less with one teacher. In all groups I observed the students had very little interaction with their teacher or peers. Some kids had a bored look while listening to the teacher. Others were not even looking at the teacher.
I saw several kids wandering the halls, some of them sliding down the railing with no supervision.
Then I saw a larger group of kids dancing in front of a big T.V. IMO a wasted opportunity to promote social interactions. None of the kids were smiling or talking to each other. They were all focused on the screen and seemed to not really care or notice who was dancing next to them.
Maddux gave me self-contained classroom vibes. Nothing wrong with that type of classrooms (my DD was in one once). What I’m trying to say is that Maddux was not the SN lite type of school I was expecting to see.
YMMV.

I think if you live in Virginia newton is another school that you might consider.

The Newtons school has the best gender ratios among all the schools suggested in this thread.
Their program is like no other. They provide the right support to help their students excel academically and socially. Mostly of the students there are 2e, ADHD, ASD level 1, AuDHD and AAA.
Newton has become very had to get into in the recent years, turning away more applicants than they accept. But it’s worth applying.

What's AAA?

And because it's tiny.
