$34 for breakfast at a diner is expensive. Especially for French toast, which is bread, eggs and butter.

+1
and not suitable for more meals as a PP pointed out. My favorite diner fare is middle east sample platter. Those make great leftovers.

When you order breakfast out, you only get one thing with no sides or drink?

We were there a couple months ago and while the food was fine, the booth was dirty. As in there were dozens of ants all over the windowsill and obvious bits of food and grease. We asked to be moved and they moved us one booth down, which had fewer ants on the windowsill but by no means zero. Then we watched in amazement as they seated five parties in the booth we had vacated and every one asked to move within minutes, yet they kept seating people there. The place was far from full so I've no idea why.

I admit I am not a big diner person to start with - not my favorite food -- but I am not eager to return.

It is expensive for what it is. To each his or her own.

Same meal at IHOP would be about half the price.

It’s -dicey with huge portion sizes. When we go there I aim to get something that does well as leftovers. But when I grab lunch to go near work, I expect to pay around $20. So $34 for a meal brought by waitstaff does not seem that bad.
