Subject: If your grandparents are dead, how often do you see your first cousins?
Three cousins. We live in different states so in-person visits are tough to afford. One cousin is like a sibling though, and we speak 4-5 times a week. Of the other two, one I only see on FB and only speak with when someone from our past dies. The other I don’t see or speak with at all.

If there's a funeral?
I'm friends with a few on Facebook but that's it. There are about 20 of us.
I'm closer to a second cousin who lives about an hour from me--he and my husband are good friends and we get together for holidays when neither of us goes "home".

Subject: If your grandparents are dead, how often do you see your first cousins?
12 cousins on one side that I see multiple times a year and all connected on social media. All very close and our kids are close too. We have second and third cousins we see often too.
12 on the other side and I see only 1 regularly. Most are in Canada and we see each other sporadically. About 75% are on a group chat or Facebook. 3 are bad news and we’re not in touch and 1 is just doing his own thing in TX.

Never anymore. Their lives revolve around their 2nd marriages or affairs, and they are no longer obligated to see any grandparents.

My mom's side, I have four and I see two of them a lot. Probably a dozen times a year. They live near my mom. The other two live further away and I probably see one of them once every few years at funerals, etc.
My dad's side, I was the youngest and adored them but they did not care about me at all. I rarely see them but when I due they are rather dismissive and rude. Kinda makes me sad but oh well.

IMHO if the siblings are close, their children will have long term relationships.
Because the grandparents often gather everyone for the holidays. After the grandparents die, a lot of time people focus more on their immediate family especially since grandkids may have started to be born by then.

On my dad’s side the grandparents have been dead for 20 years. One died before my birth and the other when i was a teenager. I still grew up seeing those cousins at family gatherings because our parents were siblings. It was a large family. Even without grandparents there were still events.
In adulthood, I only see 2 regularly. The rest are scattered and we weren't close enough to stay in close touch, but we will get together if our paths cross.

Not often as most live two flights away in other countries. I haven't met a few of them. My parents are much younger than most of their siblings so some cousins are closer to their age.
The ones in the US, I see maybe every few years.

Your grandparents children are a relation you have in common too. Your parents, Aunts, and Uncles.

Most of my family lives in another continent. However, when I am visiting my siblings, and if I am lucky, and if the cousins come to visit my 82 years old mom (she is beloved across both families) - then I see them.
Absence makes the heart go fonder. As I have reached my 60th year - I miss my friends and family something fierce. The meaning of life is love and human connections.
