Grades were auto sent by the school and we were stressing. The math grade was based on a single test and the history on a single paper.

Is your kid a URM or athlete?

No, an Asian girl

Was your son accepted?

Yes, he was accepted. But we were definitely worried bc of the lower q1 grade in a core class.

do the EA publics ask for q1 grades? like uva , mich, wisconsin, gteech?

Has he already REA'd to Princeton? They only ask some applicant's for the Q1 report, not all. But some feel that it's a good sign if they ask for Q1 grades.

Harvard REA

Our school counselor automatically sent Q1 grades

Accepted last year

I'm glad our school doesn't auto send. The counselor sent me a copy off the Q1 report before she sent it off, and I found a mistake that needed to be corrected. Our school errs on the side of not sending things that aren't required, and through this whole process has checked in with DC or me before sending anything.

Our public school auto sends Q1 grades to all colleges kids have applied to up until that point, including RD apps that are already in.

Some private high schools know the drill about which colleges historically want first quarter grades and will auto-send them every year. Just FYI as this can obscure your poll OP.

My kid's were sent last year and I have no idea if the college asked or the high school just sent them.

Ours auto-sent them after first quarter.

Same here.

Was that directed to the school counselor or did the student receive any notifications from portal?
What if the school follows semester system? Do they ask for Nov progress report? Thank you

To the school counselor. I had heard that Princeton requests Q1 grades (from some applicants not all) so I asked the counselor ahead of time to let us know if she receives a request. No notifications on portal. The request was for Q1 grades. We’re on a semester system but there are marking periods so counselor pulled the grades from the Q1 mark. There are various ways a counselor can send a grade update.

And this is why other people hate the perceived privilege and presumption of the feeder school culture.

+1 Do you really think they think your kid dances on moonbeams and rainbows just because you went to a "feeder school?" There are few true feeder schools for HYPS in the DMV area, and these schools accept less than 3% of applicants worldwide.
