When I was a kid in the 80s, I worked at a McDonalds in Texas where there are enormous cockroaches. When it wasn't busy, each of us would catch a roach in a cup, throw them all on the grill at the same time, and the last roach standing was the "winner". Then we made the burgers. It was so, so gross. We were young and stupid, and the asst manager didn't give two poops about it.

Customer service across the local McDonalds is pretty awful as it is , are they actually willing to make to order orders?

The only thing I eat from there maybe once a year are a small fry or an “icecream” cone. I do ask for hot fries.

What is this trend to where people call French Fries "fry" singular, like they are only getting ONE french fry? LMAO!

You’re so much better than they are.

NP. Yes, this is correct. People like that deserve to be mocked.

I hate tartar sauce, so when I get it, it’s fresh.

I rarely eat there, but my special requests are always hot and fresh.

What does "fresh" mean at McDonald's? Nothing. When i ask for a cheeseburger w/o mustard (because I am from the NYC area and we know that is horrid--fun fact, NYC area McDonalds don't put mustard on burgers) here in Virginia, they are not firing up the grill to make a new patty for me, they are just going to leave the mustard off when they assemble the burger using what patties they have available.

What’s wrong with mustard?

Lol at people going to a freaking McDonald's drive-thru and making these special requests. Like what are your expectations in life? There's such a disconnect here.

Nothing is "sitting out" for very long, especially during busy hours.

Also, "fresh" is ridiculous when you are talking about frozen foods being cooked. It's not like they cut their own potatos right before cooking, they come precut in bags that are frozen.

I would assume most fast food restaurants are much cleaner than regular restaurants.
Whenever I am sick from eating out it’s always been in a “nice” restaurant.

Why would it be "fresh"? They just leave the tartar sauce off when assembling your sandwich using whatever filets they have around.

I think there is this assumption that they have piles of sandwiches sitting around under heat lamps, waiting for suckers who don't ask for something fresh, when I don't think this is the case. They just assemble the food when you order.

It’s been a quarter century since I worked at McDonald’s, but yes, there were sandwiches under heat lamps. And a special order did get made to order-it’s likely/possible (especially at a busy time) that the process was already started-the meat down on the grill, buns being prepped, so on. If that’s the case, they prep a special bun and finish when cooked. But if not, yes, the meat would be started when ordered. Or the fish patty fried to order.
The meat for burgers isn’t just sitting around in the back already cooked. It gets cooked and made into the burger right away.
No salt fries get made when the next batch comes out-that might mean a new batch gets dropped when you order, or you get them faster if a batch is down already.
Maybe things have changed. But probably not.

It still took them less than 5 min or so to prepare, as they didn't actually cook anything new for your order

I don't go to McDonalds now, but when I was a teen, I always asked for fries no salt so I would get them fresh.
