How can you possibly be so confident after what happened in November?

This Administration are the ones who are bluffing, attempting to use the threat of cutting off Federal funding to coerce policy changes that align with their political view. As far as the legal aspect, prior court rulings suggest its FCPS who is likely to prevail should the Feds pursue a case (and/or illegally deny funding), so if you are worried about an unnecessary waste of legal dollars, you can direct your ire to the current political [s]leaders[/s] people in positions of authority at DOE.
This. and it’s trans students now. Who is next? You think Trump will stop there? Wake up. This is not about helping people. It’s about inflicting pain and misery.

I can't believe FCPS is dying on this hill after losing the governor's race on this issue 4 years ago.
About to lose it again for the same reason. Polls shaping up to be just like last time.
Which polls? Dems winning this upcoming governors race is a sure thing.
If you look at past polling you’d see why that doesn’t really make it a sure thing.
Roanoke’s poll from this week shows Soanberger leading Earle-Sears by 7 point lead. Their polling from the same time in 2021 showed Mcaullife having an 8 point lead over Youngkin. To refresh your memory, Youngkin won.

4th circuit ruling will be overturned by the SC. Gender identity will not be viewed as a protected class. Title IX’s protection of woman will be upheld.
Ultimately that may be true but they will probably have violated due process.
You can't really just defund appropriated funds based on an unsettled legal question.
The defunding has to take place after due process.
That is the problem with most of trump's actions. They circumvent due process, in some cases it's just the circumvention of a notice period but in cases like this, they have not established the basis for the defunding and they are discriminating based on policy differences that are not in the funding legislation.
The federal government has to win a lawsuit at some point before they can do this.
The people who are fighting against Fairfax's policies, the Republicans, have control of the executive branch, legislative branch, and judicial branch. They also have the state governor, the state attorney general, and the state lieutenant governor.
Most importantly, they have willingness/eagerness to flex their authoritarian muscles and rule by fiat, prior rules and precedents be damned.
I don't see white knight jumping in and fixing matters. For Fairfax County, this is triage time. The benefits lost by being unable to support the transgendered community to the degree they would like... versus benefits lost because millions in the federal funding have been cut off. The latter is still vague at this point.
I hope somebody has performed an analysis and weighed the options. I don't want to later read about how this cutoff was unexpected.
