We did too when my kid had 5/6. The Math 5 classes had 13.

Teacher said some are going to sit on carpets and do work on carpets. I’ll make sure to take some photos during Columbus Day. By the way we are in a top ES.

27 in a 4th grade title 1 school. This class is group for library enrichment and compact math. The other classes in the grade have about 24 kids.

21/22 kids for 3rd grade classes.

18 in our first grade class. 19 and 20 in the other two first grade classes.

Happened last year to my kid. They never found another teacher. So they used a reading specialist to teach 2.5 hour block of reading/writing with only 21-22 kids, but the afternoon it was 28/29 first graders for math/science/ss and for specials.

This is ridiculous. It is very difficult for an ES teacher to dedicate time to 31 kids-not evens taking to account that there are kids with substantial special needs and English language learning needs in practically every class. I wish MCPS would cut non-essential stuff-like having a big central office team to manage the SSL program and focus on making sure younger kids have the foundations to read and write

Parents need to make a LOT of noise about this class. My DD had 38 her year and they thought it was fine for kids to sit on the floor! Um, no way. Parents were really vocal about the learning environment and they ended up making two sections of the class.

DS had 31 in his 5th grade HR a few years ago. Teacher could definitely handle the group, but not every teacher is as capable.

Not at all, we have 36 kids in ELC class at 4th grade.
