Fresh Baguette if you're willing to make an extra stop at a bakery. For a sandwich-type loaf, Alvarado Street Bakery bread which can be purchased at Safeway. You may be surprised at how expensive a nice loaf of sourdough has become.

Gross suggestions. Izzio I think is the brand at moms we get. Supposedly it's at Safeway too. Keep it in the freezer take slices out as needed and use butter from butter bell.

I love good bread, and have been surprised at how good the WF sourdough is. I’m that poster. My Giant also sells their own sourdough- I think it is terrible. I liked another brand of sourdough they sold in the deli section, but no longer sell.

Our two favorites are Whole Foods and Aldi, which I’m surprised nobody has said yet. The Aldi sliced sourdough is terrific.

Whole Foods has the best.

I like Boulangerie Christophe. There's one in Georgetown, one in Potomac.

From your location, it's a 15 minute drive connecticut ave to 495.
