ive heard of this happening as wellAnonymous wrote:Just to add some personal experience: A couple of years ago, my DC went to an ECNL ID session in late fall and was verbally offered a spot. DC had been on a team (different carding system) and we had paid the full year fee. I assumed we were good to go. The actual emailed offer was supposed to show up a day or two later. A week later, we still hadn’t received it. I reached out to the coach and he said the TD (ECNL) had reached out to the other TD and wanted his blessing, since “you had made a commitment to that club for the year”. Eventually it worked out, but all that to say, tell the club you are leaving - even though it is lame and annoying and shouldn’t be necessary - because these clubs that supposedly compete certainly talk and, I’ve come to find out in the time since, WAY more than most realize (that’s a different story).

Op, I don’t think anything would stop you from switching.

There is another team nearby that needs players. Questions: I assume if we are paid in full that the ECNL team can't stop us from leaving? Does it make any difference if we do this now (before the season has started) vs waiting another month to see how things are going (say, late September after the season is underway). The two teams do not play each other in league obviously. We have no desire to make anyone angry just want to ensure she has a good situation.
Season just started. Give it some time.
If your kid is not happy I would move her. Better to move her to a team she is happy with vs. Being on a team she doesnt care for and hating soccer.
Also having a coach she can respond and learn from is more important than any league.
It's been a few weeks. Has she played any games? Also, for the people that think you can move, that's false. You need permission from clubs.
