Why is every girl’s room I’ve seen online is pink or has shades of pink? Is this a Southern thing?

Early 90s parents didn’t even come into the dorm. I had some grunge rock posters. Give this age group a break. They will be cleaning and decorating for the rest of their lives. Get your extra long sheets and comforter and call it a day.

We did this when I was in college in the late ‘90s. We even had our room painted (and hired the painters to paint it back when we moved out).

bottom one just looks like a typical dorm room that's clean. lots of people are taping fairly lights to the wall for vibes!

The top two are overdone. The one for the guy at the bottom isn't styled with such a heavy hand.

I'm guessing this trend isn't really hitting straight males as much. I do think it's nice to suggest ways to make their bed/mattress as comfortable as possible. Creating more underbed storage seems like a smart and practical thing.

nothing wrong with making the space you'll live in for 9 months more functional and aesthetically pleasing. The top two seem like they have too much unappealing fabric but if it makes them happy who cares?

No normal people (and very few wealthy people) decorate to that extent, obviously. It takes a decorator/crazy parent and movers to do all that.

Yup! We have the money, neither of mine wanted that (and one is female). Dorm rooms are small, you only have 9 months in it. Simpler is better. They'd rather spend on quality. One kid has a Tempurpedic Twin Xl 3-4" mattress topper. Was less than $150, every single friend loves it and wants to sit on their bed when in that room. My kid will get 4 years of use out of it. So worth every penny (we put it into storage each summer, nicely wrapped in large trash bags to protect it). So there, I'd rather spend $150 than $30 and get one that makes the bed really comfy. But sheets and towels, my kid just wants decent ones and tosses them every 1-2 years anyhow (towels at least)

Statistically college in general is a rich people problem. Not DCUM rich, obviously, but most of this country doesn't even attend, much less worry about dorm decor.

Especially college where kids live on campus/near campus (and not at home).

I'll probably do it. You can do it pretty cheaply if you shop well. None of that is pricy.

The featured mom owned a southern-style kids clothing boutique that went bankrupt. She was ordered to pay back $7k in unfilled orders.

Unsurprising and I feel sorry for her kids.

Last photo shared looked pretty normal. First one, not so much.

Whatever. My son last year had a abstract photo print that he hung up along with a photo collage of family snaps that my wife put together for him. That's pretty much it.

My dorm I remember hanging up a ton of those Absolut ads that were city themed plus a couple of random street signs that I acquired and of course some Christmas lights just because.

It looks like a Barbie dream house room. I suspect under the bed is a Barbie harem for her manly Ken doll.

We just dropped my son off at college. I asked him if he wanted help in hanging up his MD flag. He said he would do it later. Lol! That covered his room decorations!

Absolutely nuts! I can’t believe how invested some moms are in their kids’ dorm room design and decor. The stuff that gets posted on social media is mind-boggling.
