I travel every week and have done both Hilton and Marriott and status on both.

I prefer Marriott. The hotels are better overall and more perks. Nicer rooms on comparable levels. Club level is great at Marriotts that have them with club lounge for snacks, happy hour, etc… JW, highest level, especially resorts tend to be really good.

We've stayed at the Hilton, both before and after the renovation. It is a lovely little property. The beach umbrellas are nice, though the pool is on the small side and therefore can get crowded at certain times. The spa was great. The rooms are pretty spacious, and with the way the tower is laid out, I think you can see at least some water from every room. The Marriott is a much, much larger property so it depends on what you prefer.

Regardless of which one you stay at, have dinner at the nearby DaVinci restaurant. We walked there (it's in a condo building down the street) and had an amazing dinner overlooking the water at sunset.

Hilton’s tend to have room for families of 5, and marriotts rarely do, so I prefer Hilton. For work, it’s usually a Marriott, but not my choice

In the US I find that Hilton often has triple the properties (or more) than Marriott of Hyatt. I think the other brands tend to be nicer but we have a hilton amex and the perks are good (easy to rack up points, free night at any hotel for every $15,000 spent. We usually use it for Waldorf Astoria

JW Marriott is hardly representative of a chain that had way more Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, and Townplace Suites properties.
