No. You do know they are non-native and rather invasive? And they grow like a weed and are a pain in the ass to trim properly. Al my Boomer neighbors love them though. So I think it's mostly cultural/education level on if you like them or not.

Should existing ones be removed?

I think mine are Natchez White and they are gorgeous. They also smell nice.

Hate them. Colors are dusty.

We love ours (came with the house) but if I were planting something myself I’d choose a native tree.

We have three, they bring lots of joy in the summer (June to September bloom)! My lot feels private and beautiful...

Love mine. Do NOT let anyone amputate the tops. Looks terrible and can kill the branch below.

We have 9, all of which were here when we moved in. 2 are white, 2 are red, 2 are pink, 3 are purple. They bloom July through September and are beautiful. It’s a small lot so they basically act as screens for the houses on either side.
Even prettier is our giant tree hydrangea though.

I have 2 huge beautiful hot pink crepe myrtles at the ends of my driveway. They came with the house and they look glorious right now. My landscaper keeps them properly trimmed and pruned. I have not had any trouble with them.

I like them, but they are all over. And they are native to Asia. Plant something native like redbud or sweetspire. Then plant some lovely flowers to bring color and happiness. There are plenty of beautiful plantings out there.

Sometimes I am annoyed by ours, sometime a I like ours.
It came with our home’s landscaping from previous owner.
I think if you don’t cut it (like you see landscapers do at the end of winter every year), they grow skinnier and prettier. More like a pretty, tall bush.
Ours was cut for some years, and we cut it it too. And it grew bigger and more like a tree. It doesn’t fit as well in its spot.
As we walk the neighborhood and we see young/skinny versions, we realize they may be just as old but never cut.
Not an expert. Also, I’m not saying skinnier is better lol. In this context, they look prettier to me.

I agree the bark is interesting and cool, but I am planning a paperbark maple instead. I think they are on the list of plants that will become a problem
