Both of these comments aren’t terribly impressive. The first is an example of a short, racist, disdainful comment that stereotypes. The second responds in kind with an additional layer of insecurity.
Both are myopic and show limited cognitive ability.

Most non-immigrants with the privileges you describe are very happy to live in nice houses and to have neighbors who are immigrants living in equally nice houses.
There's a sub-set of non-immigrants who regularly reveal their nativist tendencies by cloaking it in aesthetics. Some are downwardly mobile, while others are not, but the common thread is that they are insecure. They may have spent a lot of money on older houses in close-in locations, and want validation and praise for their lifestyle choices. When that isn't forthcoming (because, for example, people aren't necessarily impressed by old houses in areas like Arlington), they lash out by attacking immigrants and the "nouveau rich" (sic).
Ahem, cough cough, perhaps they appreciate quality and location? It's hard to approach the quality of craftsmanship and materials of a higher end house built in the 1900-1930 period. I grew up in such a neighborhood and it's apples and oranges compared to your suburban mcmansion.
However, I will say a fair number of my old childhood friends now live in newer suburban houses while many buyers in my childhood neighborhood are people of recent immigrant heritage. So it's not all wasps these days. Just people who appreciate and want to own quality.

I like your Sailer example, except for the dormers.
Your Focal Point example is not balanced at all though, it's a mish-mash.
